Tranquility in Tulum
White powder sand beach? Check. Calm waters? Check. Yoga courses on the beach? Check. Laid back town? Check. Mayan ruins? Check. If you’re looking for a chilled out place to relax for a few days or weeks, look no further than Tulum. The town is located a couple of kilometres from the beach, but you can easily catch a colectivo or hire a bike and ride over to it. The beach itself is exactly what you would expect from a tropical paradise: palm trees, white sand beach, turquoise water.
And to top it off, there are Mayan ruins on a headland overlooking the beach. In fact, there’s beach access inside the ruins. It’s a perfect way to cool off after exploring the ancient Mayan city.
Tulum is located about 2 hours south of Cancun and 1 hour south of Playa del Carmen. The main highway passes right through the middle of town.
