On the northern headland in San Juan del Sur there’s an enormous statue of Jesus overlooking the town. It’s one of the biggest in the world and boasts an incredible view of the Pacific Ocean and the town. The entrance fee is US$2 for foreigners and C$20 for locals. There is a paved road that winds its way up the hill past million dollar homes to the statue. From the town centre, the drive takes probably 5 minutes and the walk takes about 20-30 minutes each way. We walked. Just be sure to bring water, sun block, and a camera!
San Juan del Sur is on the Pacific coast of Nicaragua and boasts some of the best surf beaches in the world. The closest city is Rivas, about 32km away.
