Thru The Lens: Ohrid
Ohrid is the stuff of fairy tales I say.
The walled old town of Ohrid sits on the eastern shores of Lake Ohrid in Macedonia. The UNESCO recognized site is the most popular destination in the country and for good reason. The picture perfect lake is ringed by mountains and the old town rises along the slope of a hill from the lake on up to the dominating Samuil’s Fortress. Putting the beauty of this place into words is beyond my writing skills so I’m going to let the pictures do the work 🙂
Practical Info Ohrid 3.5 hours away from the capital Skopje. There is a small airport with regular flights to many European cities during the summer. The official currency is the denar (MKD). The exchange to the euro can be found here.
